Dermal fillers are a popular treatment option for reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, restoring facial volumes and rehydrating skin, without resorting to invasive procedures such as a facelift.
Our clinic uses dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a natural component of your skin. It is a sugar-based substance, produced by the body to retain moisture in the skin and tissues.
During the ageing process, the production of HA naturally decreases. The skin becomes drier, loses its firm plump look, and develops wrinkles and lines. These signs and symptoms of the natural ageing process can be reduced by replacing the lost hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid products for wrinkle correction have been available since 2006 and successfully used in many thousands of treatments.
During the treatment, a small amount of HA filler is injected into the specific area of the skin to be treated, using a very fine needle or cannula. It also has a built-in local anaesthetic allowing for a more comfortable treatment. Once injected, it acts like a soft cushion under the skin, supporting the facial tissues that may have lost its volume and elasticity.
By skilful and judicious use of the dermal fillers at our clinic we can achieve instant results, with filling the wrinkles and smoothing out the skin on your face, without changing your natural contours and or facial expressions.
In addition to smoothing out wrinkles, the filler treatment also hydrates the surface of the skin to keep it looking fresh, plump and younger.
Over time, the injected dermal filler will be reabsorbed into the tissues of the body. Each dermal filler injection lasts between 4 to 12 months. The procedure can then be repeated in order to maintain the anti- aging effect.
There is very little to no downtime associated with dermal filler treatment. However, just like any injection, you may experience mild irritation, swelling, itching, redness, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site. These side effects are usually mild and resolve on their own. If any side effects are concerning you, please contact our clinic.
There are many treatment possibilities using the dermal fillers, and you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns with your doctor before you decide if it would be the most suitable method for you.
